Meanwhile, the Mob leader, Archie, has decided that Red has become too powerful and decides to have her killed. He asks Tony - who is a hit-man - to do the job, but naturally Tony refuses. Archie sends him on a different job and decides to kill Red himself. Tony suspects a trap, and arrives just in time to shoot Archie. In the aftermath, he confesses to Red that he was the one who killed her husband - in a rage, she shoots him, and realizing what a mess her life has become, shoots herself. Rita arrives on the scene to survey the results as the final song is sung.      18
